A Collection of my Thoughts
My overall message is to convey things that I like as a way to describe myself. The picture of the sculpture represents my interest in engineering, since it is outside of a U of M engineering building. The leaf and snow picture represents my love of snow and nature. The picture of the cards and dice represent my hobby Magic: the Gathering. I didn't cut out the background for either the leaf or the sculpture pictures because I liked the way they looked together as a background for my selfie. However, since I moved them around a bit so that they are around my selfie, there were edges and lines going through the photo. To get rid of them, I used the clone stamp tool so that they covered the entire photograph. Because the layers of the photo represent my likes and interests, I named it "A collection of my Thoughts".
I have, through the trimester, gotten better at taking and editing photos through a few ways. I find that I notice things that would make good photos in my day-to-day life now more often. I actively look for better angles, lighting, and points of interest. I also am now able to do more things in Photoshop and further improve the photos I take.
I think the major difference between my original selfie and my double exposure comes from my skills in using Photoshop that I gained throughout the trimester. I was able to manipulate the photos in the double exposure much more than in the selfie. I used a variety of tools to try to get the best possible blend for my double exposure. With the original selfie, however, all I did was overlay photos on top of each other.
